When is the Scaffolding Coming Down?
You may have been asking this question, as have so may people who pass by our church building!
Thankyou for checking in on the progress of the spire!
Tuesday 8th April marked our las site meeting with the contractors.
Wednesday 9th April saw the finishing touches being put on the church clock faces.
In the coming days you will start to see the scaffolding finally coming down,
By May 2nd our spire project will be finally completed!
After 18 years we will again see Abbey church without any metal surround. Praise the Lord
This is a big moment for us
A huge amount of time and effort, skill and money has been expended
Our chief architect, put it into context earlier this week when he wrote:
‘In the context of all the chat in the media about the dereliction in the north inner city centre
this is a gleaming light which I hope will reflect very well on your church,
its mission and the place in the wider community of Dublin’
Lets not underestimate the difference a building can make to its surroundings and above all, lets not underestimate the difference we as a people can make in our neighbourhood.
